What is Energy Psychology (EP)?

There seems to have been a great shift in recent years surrounding holistic health and wellness, but a lot of people are still unsure of what holistic healing really means. Holistic, or wholistic is an approach to healing through addressing the mind, body and spirit connection, treating all three components equally and respectively.

Energy Psychology (EP) is a truly holistic approach to mental health and well-being, taking into considerations the relationship between the bioenergy system and emotional/behavioral health.

There are a variety of Wholistic-Healing modalities that fall under the umbrella of Energy Psychology. Energy Psychology is a group of interventions that address the mind, body and spirit, as well as the relationship component in the human life. In other words, Wholistic-Healing modalities address every aspect of the human experience.

Research confirms cognitive and psychological changes among subjects after utilization of these particular modalities. Integration and utilization of these approaches continue to increase as more and more research surfaces. There is a substantial amount of research demonstrating rapid change in the areas of stress management, resiliency and emotional regulation when subjects were exposed to the Energy Psychology framework in their treatments.

The most well-known EP modality is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This modality utilizes Neuro-linguistics Programming (cognition and psyche) and acupressure meridian points (biofield energy system) to immediately decrease discomfort (e.g., cravings, pain, anxiety, stress, etc.). Other modalities include, but are not limited to EFT, Emotion Code, Body Code, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, areas of yogic work, Thought Field Therapy, Mindfulness-based therapies, forms of Meditation, and more.
